At this wedding in Veneta last Saturday, at Our Daily Bread, all the guys wanted to step outside for a cigar. The weather cooperated beautifully that night: no wind and no rain! This allowed the smoke to go exactly where the guys aimed it…right in front of the groom.
More images from this past weekend’s wedding at the McMenamins in Forest Grove, Oregon (the Grand Lodge). Lauren was implacable that day, despite the rain and strong wind that would have had many brides running for the bar!
Lauren and Chris didn’t let a little weather rain on their parade at this McMenamins Grand Lodge wedding yesterday, where it was raining in biblical proportions.
While I was waiting for the bride to begin changing into her wedding dress I looked around the room I was in and noticed this book. It appeared to have something in it so I opened it up and saw the wedding rings!
I used a relatively shallow DOF (depth of field) here to isolate the groom from his groomsmen. This wedding was shot in the rain, in Washington, but all of us Northwesterners didn’t mind a bit!
During dinner at this King Estate wedding, massive thunderheads built up and the skies suddenly opened and soaked us all. Everyone ran inside, where the King Estate staff did a great job of keeping the food (and drinks!) flowing.
Whenever I shoot at a venue with a large outdoor area and a great backdrop, I always try and do at least one ‘everyone’ shot, a shot that includes all family members, the entire wedding party, and anyone else who isn’t waiting in line at the bar:)
Devin & Coty are getting married next August and booked me for an e-session today. The late afternoon sunlight at Alton Baker Park was just perfect.
I encourage every couple to set aside time for portraits during the ‘golden hour’ of the day. The golden hour is that magical time around sunset, 30 minutes before it sets and 30 minutes after it’s gone down. At this wedding, near Hood River, we had to hike way up a grassy hillside to catch the last of the light but it was worth…
At this Dancing Deer Mountain wedding, the groom put on his lucky leprechaun hat and was rewarded immediately!
