Haylie and Jonathan really wanted to get some great sunset pictures at their Whisper’n’Oaks wedding. Nature, however, had other ideas and the sunset was a little underwhelming. With the help of my trusty off-camera lighting I was still able to create a nice portrait using directional lighting.
With the abundance of cameras available, on our phones and our tablets, it’s nice to see what a difference using a real camera can make. The ability to set whatever aperture I like, combined with Canon’s razor-sharp optics, make every image pop off the page. There was a time when the introduction of digital SLR cameras was anathema to old school film shooters; these…
The advent of Pinterest and other such sites have really fueled wedding photographers’ creativity. I cannot tell you how many times a bride has emailed me a long list of images she’d like to replicate; images she (or a bridesmaid) found on Pinterest. Quite a number of such requests are impossible to honor (since most such ‘found’ images were made at different venues, with…
Heather and Lamar were married at Deep Woods Events in Veneta, Oregon and it was the rainiest day I’ve ever seen in Oregon, let alone photographed. This is another example from the same set.
When the sun is low in the sky it makes a great backlight, creating a very nice corona of light around the edges of my subjects. To recreate that effect in broad daylight, as well as to separate the subjects from the background a bit, I place a remote flash directly behind them. Such was the case with this couple, taken yesterday at Whisper’n’Oaks…
Deep Woods Events in Veneta, Oregon, does indeed have some very nice woods. They were a perfect filter for the bright sunshine of early evening in July.
