Whenever I’m shooting all the traditional family portraits I always try and inject some fun into the group(s). Everyone wants to look good in pictures but nobody wants to have to stare at a camera for a long time and try and hold a natural smile. For this reason I like to mix it up and create situations where everyone is relaxed and having…
It’s not every couple that gets to ride away from their reception in the back of a 1967 Cadillac convertible. Igor and Athena were lucky enough to find this one, from Sunshine Limousine. I have a convertible myself so I was able to follow them as they sped away from Dancing Deer Mountain, holding my camera over my head with one hand as I…
Kristen & Dusty were married near Yachats, Oregon and the weather was very cooperative (the coast can be cloudy even in the middle of summer!)
At this Denver wedding I shot a few weeks ago, the weather turned nasty at the last minute and everything (photos, ceremony, reception) had to take place indoors. I was glad I’d scouted out the venue beforehand and found this upstairs library; I knew this image was going to be a fun one. There was also a full-sized craps table which I used in…
This groom had no intention of making this jump, but he did make a leap of faith later on that day when he married his beautiful bride, Melissa. This image was made at the Embassy Suites in Denver, Colorado just prior to the wedding ceremony.
The smoking of the late-night cigar is a fairly common occurrence amongst a groom and his groomsmen. When the bride steps in and wants a piece of the action, that makes it even more photo-worthy! This is from a wedding I shot in Denver this past weekend.
This is an image I like to create at a lot of my weddings: just the flowers in focus with the couple behind them. When the wind picked up during this particular shoot it created some nice, dynamic movement. You’ll notice this is the full image from one of my rotating header images at the very top of the page.
This bride wasn’t about to let these groomsmen throw her into the pond, despite the 102℉ temperature that day. ‘Trash the Dress’ may be popular elsewhere in the country, and in parts of Mexico, but not here in Oregon!
This is one of the images I use for my header; it’s from a wedding at King Estate. Look at all that blue sky! I was just thinking about blue skies, and the New Zealand coast, as I pondered what to do with my winning numbers from Mega Millions (crossing my fingers tonight!). New Zealand is an amazing place and 640 million US dollars…
When it comes time for the bride and groom to share their first piece of wedding cake, I never know what to expect. This, however, was as messy as I’ve ever seen:) This image was made at the Deschutes Brewery in Bend, Oregon. The venue was completely dark but all I used was some bounce flash, directed into the white wall behind me and…
