The Country Inn, Eugene

The Country Inn, located in north Eugene off Coburg Road, is a great wedding venue! With two separate venues in one location, The Country Inn can host large weddings or intimate weddings and, whichever one you decide on, you’ll have full access to the wonderful grounds that surround and make up the property. This wedding, between Matt & Rebecca, took place in the larger of the two options.

Kids love weddings!

I always look for a few shots of kids at a wedding; it’s always fun to see them watching the newlyweds and imagining their own wedding someday.

Thank You, Brides!

This year’s Oregon Wedding Showcase was a huge success and I want to thank all the brides-to-be who visited my booth. I’ve gotten quite a few bookings for 2016 (and 2017) weddings but I still have some dates open. If you’re still in the market for a wedding photographer, now’s the time!

We’re engaged!

Here are two more images from the engagement session with Travis and Amy. In both cases I used my Canon 50mm f/1.8 lens (aka the ‘nifty fifty’) to accentuate the engagement ring. I really like the bokeh such a lens produces.

Details are important

When shooting a wedding I always take care to include plenty of detail shots; these images really help when it comes time for creating albums. Whether I use the detail images as opaque backgrounds or as full-size pages, they are a wonderful way to personalize each couple’s album. While I was shooting the wedding rings at a wedding a few weeks ago, I noticed a copy of the wedding itinerary on a nearby dresser. Using a very shallow DOF (depth of field), I was able to highlight the rings and also draw attention to the names of the bride and groom. If you’re shooting a wedding, be sure to look for these kinds of images!

My booth on tv!

I had a booth at the Oregon Wedding Showcase last weekend and KMTR (channel 16 in Eugene, the NBC channel) was kind enough to use my booth as the only wedding photographer’s booth they showed on their newscast. Thank you, KMTR! Here is a screenshot of my booth, as seen on my own tv (yes, this is a photo from my iPhone, lol!).

Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow!

These are not really wedding images but I had so much fun at Salt Creek Falls yesterday, I had to post these. This location would make a great spot for winter engagement photos!

Get Well, Officer Rager!

When I shot Barry and Janina’s wedding a couple years ago, I had no idea I’d be hearing his name on the news last night! While involved in a traffic stop, he was struck from behind by a texting driver. Luckily he’s doing fine (last I heard, he was ‘sipping blackberry whiskey’), and won’t have to work during Christmas! I’m just glad he’s okay. Here’s to you, Barry…
