A Golden Plum

This image isn’t exactly wedding related but the white blooms, and the limitless blue sky behind them, reminded me of a bride in her wedding dress: fresh and bursting with the promise of a new life ahead. I took this picture in my backyard a couple days ago.

Spring!

Spring is still a couple weeks away but we’re sure getting a nice preview today! This image is from an engagement session I did last spring, at Alton Baker Park.

Let’s get this party started!

Emily and Luke were married on the University of Oregon campus. Truly a great couple, they also had a great bunch of friends who wanted nothing more than to help them celebrate their special day. I’ve seen couples get lifted into the air before, but never for so long! They were paraded around the dance floor more than once and they loved every minute of it. Rick, the DJ from Bass is Loaded, kept the party going long into the night.

The Big K Ranch

The Big K Ranch, near Elkton, Oregon is a year-round hunting lodge that also hosts the occasional wedding. I’m glad Heather & Jon decided to eschew the standard ceremony location (inside the dark, wood-paneled lodge) and move everything outside. While it was indeed hot and sunny, everyone was provided one of these pretty paper parasols…except the bride and groom! Their wedding party did a great job keeping them shaded. For more images like this, be sure to check out my portfolio page on Smugmug. I’ve also just had my website redone; take a look and see what you think!

Ambient Light

While it’s true that a majority of my images are made using one or more flashes, there are times when the ambient light is so perfect no additional light is necessary. This warm sunset light only lasted for about three minutes. This image was shot with my 70-200mm lens since I really wanted to compress the elements in the frame. Doing so allowed me to shoot at f2.8 and still have a decent DOF.

A Dress for Two

While I was setting up Alyssa for some of her bridal portraits her new husband, Travis, decided he’d jump in and surprise her! For more of my work, please visit my site or my Smugmug page.

Spring is in the air

Ahh, those warm sunny days on the Oregon coast…it must be winter time! This couple got married outside the Sandtrap Inn (a McMenamins resort). Their dog was the ring bearer 🙂

Jumping in the Rain

Outdoor summer weddings in Oregon are almost always guaranteed to be sunny and warm. There are times, however, when Mother Nature decides to throw us a curve ball. At Beckenridge Vineyard in Dallas, Oregon, this bride didn’t mind in the least. Her father had forgotten to pick up her dress at the bridal shop and the place wasn’t open on Sundays. The bride’s brothers had to break into the shop, leave a note for the owner, and race back to the wedding before the ceremony. After all that, what’s a little rain?

The Long Arm of the Groom

When it comes time for cutting the cake, a lot of newlyweds make a pact beforehand on whether or not it will be a messy exchange or a nice one. However, in my experience, once the crowd starts egging the couple on, urging them to let loose, all bets are off. Such was the case in this wedding. The bride broke the pact first so the groom had no choice but to return the favor!
