The one that got away

I like to have a little fun with the bride and groom during the Wedding Party photos. Once I saw the groom was wearing a long tie (ie, not a bow-tie), I knew I’d make this image. Some couples are okay with this sort of playacting and some aren’t; I always take my cue from the couple and these two were great fun!

Shotgun Wedding

When I saw this rifle I knew I had to use it in a few shots. This image is a play on similar images I’ve created, except I never had a bride holding a real gun before!

Tug of war

I like to set up a shot like this whenever there’s a large wedding party. The standard poses are all well and good but it’s also important to have some fun, too! This image was taken at Deep Woods Events in Elmira, Oregon.

A Tree of Their Own

Whenever I shoot a wedding, I’m always looking for places that will make great images. When I saw this willow tree, with its large canopy of overhanging branches, I knew what I wanted to do. The entire wedding party is in the frame, but only the bride and groom are the subjects of the photo. I wanted to demonstrate the intimacy of marriage: your friends are still close, but it’s just the two of you who are in focus.

Get a room!

Kara and Matt got a little carried away after their ceremony and the wedding party let them know it. This was taken at Eagle Rock Lodge, along the McKenzie River.
