Indiana Jones?

The groom from this past Saturday’s wedding at The Inn at Diamond Woods really loved his hat so I told him to put it on. The hat, along with the .45 he had strapped to his leg, reminded me of Indiana Jones.

May I have the rings, please

The wedding rings are the most enduring symbol of marriage; it’s important to photograph them in a way that highlights their importance. I have a handful of ways I shoot the rings and this is one of my favorites. Using an aperture like f2.8 allows the rings to become the focal point while the newlyweds become an intriguing background.

Running Wild

I’ve been playing around with a new aspect ratio (2:1) for the photos on my main site and I wanted to post one here as well, to see how it looked. This image is of a wedding I shot down in Scottsburg, on the way to the Oregon coast from Cottage Grove. The venue belongs to the groom’s family; they have a nice piece of property right on the banks of the Umpqua River. The sun had just gone down and the light was very warm and soft. Spying this field of tall grass and wildflowers, I asked Vinnie and Valerie to run towards me and to see who could help the other win the race 🙂

Get a room!

Kara and Matt got a little carried away after their ceremony and the wedding party let them know it. This was taken at Eagle Rock Lodge, along the McKenzie River.

A New Bride

Jordan couldn’t wait to whisk Trisha away for their honeymoon…it was only a dozen miles or so up the road! The Clark Creek area is stunning and Jordan had already secured a riverfront spot earlier in the day. This image was taken after the sun had disappeared behind the hills but there was still some soft twilight filtering through the trees. I hiked up here with the couple, my trusty off-camera light in one hand and my camera in the other, so we could visit the cave at the top of the climb (more on that in my next post).
